JAY HACHADOORIAN

Jay discovered CrossFit in 2009 when his “friend” Dave Lipson crippled him with the Filthy Fifty, and knew there was no turning back. As a former competitive triathlete and a private running and triathlon coach, Jay quickly saw how effective CrossFit workouts would be, both in the gym and on improving performance in any sport. After experiencing the benefits first hand, he incorporated private CrossFit training into his athletes programming. In late 2011 he became an assistant coach at CrossFit Virtuosity while continuing to work at New York Sports Med and Physical Therapy as a PT Aide.

Jay has been athletic most of his life. Growing up he was a swimmer, diver and water polo player. He competed in Club Water Polo for FSU. In 2002 he took on the sport of triathlon, focusing on the XTERRA off-road circuit and was sponsored to race all over the US, Japan and Europe for the 2005-06 seasons. Jay loved learning about how the human body works, and how individuals can achieve incredible feats through hard work. He has a knowledge- and information-based coaching style and seeks to empower his athletes to take control of their own training. Jay is thankful and excited for the opportunity to share his unique training background with the members of CrossFit Gantry.

Jay has achieved the distinction of CrossFit Level 3 Certified trainer. He is one of only six in the New York area.

    THOMAS REED

    ASSISTANT COACH


    Thomas is passionate about sports and the outdoors, playing different rec team sports in college, began rock climbing in 2017, and was even an instructor at a zipline course. Thomas loves weight lifting (his one true passion besides petting dogs) but was constantly getting bored of the same old globo gym routine. When a friend introduced Thomas to CrossFit in 2018, all the pieces aligned. He quickly began seeing gains in his fitness goals as well as improvements in his health and quality of life. On top of the constantly varied programming, Thomas also found the CrossFit community was exceedingly unique and welcoming. You could be competing against someone for a whole class but then afterward you can go get tacos as if you weren't just trying to beat them in a workout. Shortly after Thomas moved to New York in 2019, he decided that he wanted to show other people that fitness doesn't have to be boring. He became a certified climbing instructor and personal trainer in 2020 and then received his CrossFit L1 in 2021, around the same time he found CrossFit Gantry. Though he was new to the area and the gym, CrossFit Gantry very quickly treated him as just another part of the squad. Thomas is looking forward to seeing you in the gym and getting to know you over a couple of tacos.

    ABBY KORETO

    ASSISTANT COACH


    Abby spent a better portion of her life avoiding the gym and physical activity. Realizing that this was not a healthy way to live, she started exploring different workout regiments. She eventually discovered CrossFit Gantry, and fell in love with CrossFit and with the measurable results that were being made. She is now in the best shape of her life, and has competed in both Powerlifting and Weightlifting meets, runs Spartan races and even runs the occasional 5 k race. Four years after starting CrossFit, she was urged by her coaches to take the CF Level 1 weekend seminar and to work towards becoming a coach herself. Inspired by them and her own accomplishments, that's exactly what she did. Abby hopes to motivate and encourage athletes of all levels to give their all and do their best. She particularly wants to support those who never thought they could succeed in the gym. Those who think they are too old, too out of shape or are just too scared to try. Because that's where she started.
